papertrey Ink's transformation tuesday!
Happy Tuesday and welcome to my very first Transformation Tuesday post! In case you've missed it, this is a relatively new Papertrey Ink feature that encourages us (and you!) to pull out those cards that didn’t necessarily turn out the way we had envisioned and give them a second try. The idea is to show a project transformed into something fresh and new. Here's the card I'm transforming today (and HERE's the original post):
Despite being fairly happy with my original card (which was inspired by/CASE-d Kristina Werner's beautiful design), and kind of liking the gray/yellow color combination, I was never completely satisfied with how it turned out and I felt that the card base was just a bit too dark. So.....a few changes were made to lighten up the new, and more feminine, card. Let's take a peek!
The same elements are still there (trio of 'candles', banner sentiment, die cut word, scallop), but this updated version has a bit more detail...... with lots of Vintage Cream, a pretty aqua/coral-y pink color combination and a hint of sparkle-y gold.
Oh, how I love me a good Target Dollar Spot, where I found these pretty, sparkled up (and polka dotted!) straws that were just begging to be used in a paper crafting project!
Many thanks for joining me today! And.... don't forget, you can play along too. Just link up your Transformation Tuesday project over on the Papertrey Ink Blog for your chance to win a $25 gift certificate for the Papertrey Ink Store! Have a great day, everyone!
Though the new version is VERY pretty, Michelle... you HAD ME at yellow and gray! xo

Both cards bring joy to the receiver, but the second is so full of feminine layers, it is soon to be cased!!! Love the happy touches of gold, and sweet dimension of the straws. JUST PERFECT!
ReplyDeleteMe too, I love the yellow and gray card, (can imagine it with the new "Weathervane" gray). Your second card is also lovely and as you say more feminine, BUT genius using the adorable straws. I also love Target Spot shopping and have several sets of straws, NEVER would I have thought to use as you did. Thank you so much for beautiful cards and a fabulous tip! Now off to check my "straw" stash.
ReplyDeleteI really like your first card--great for a guy even with the scallops, I think! The new card is gorgeous with the beautiful feminine took & love using the straws for candles! I actually bought some long ago & still haven't used them, but maybe now I will! You've inspired me to transform a card into one for a guy or vice versa--gotta see what might work. Thanks for the wonderful inspiration!
ReplyDeleteEven if I'd seen them, I probably wouldn't have bought those straws, but I surely wish I had a few. Like the others, I like the first card, but the second "dolled up" one is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThe transformation is difficult for me to decide on a card to transform because my mind locks in on the original. Michelle, both cards are lovely but totally see the difference with just a few tweaks. Love this feature...I’m just not good at participating. Hope to get out of my comfort zone one of these weeks. TFS!
ReplyDeleteThe straws are so fun on your card! Love both your projects!
